For those who know me, and for that I'm sorry, but for many years I worked in television and such and since I posted the "Film and Video Department" coming soon in the opening of our studio page questions have been raised. Mostly, when does the big movie come out?
Well smarty pants there's this little issue of millions of dollars of funding that usually goes along with filmmaking and with the paintings selling and the design work flowing it's been hard to carve out time to invest in a major motion picture. Besides, the script I wrote has a lot of similarities to a movie that just came out something like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Once again for those that know me, it's no surprise I would write an homage to an homage, especially with the effect Indiana Jones has on me.
So what's your movie all about? Well, Grace Turner and The Red Scare... in summary, disenfranchised FBI agent Grace Turner is called back into active duty when a former associate and love-interest, Cary Conners, is kidnapped by Communist sympathizers. Her assignment, rescue Cary from 1950s East Germany, return him to Nevada, and help him defeat the Russians before they unleash the ultimate Cold War Army, a bunch of genetically modified zombies. Along the way they encounter film noir style aliens dressed in 50s attire, ancient Indian artifacts, and an assortment of evil villains all speaking in the swanky lingo of a great McCarthy era popcorn film. Obviously you can see my problem with releasing this right now.
So, I'm developing a few new ideas, one about a guy stuck in rural American until he does 100 hours of community service at a local cable access station. But as for "Grace Turner," whom would I cast? I'm leaning toward Arielle Kebbel (Grunge 2) as the lead, she's due for a good role. Matthew Fox (Lost) as the greasy villian, I could totally see him channeling Willem Dafoe in a fedora. Q'orianka Kilcher (The New World) could be great as Grace's foil, the CIA agent that took over her former job. But for now, this will probably remain on the shelf. But for those of you that know me, don't think I've given up just yet. We may one day crack into Hollywood.
